Compassion in Action: Steve Bateman’s Exemplary Customer Care

We take immense pride in the exceptional care and dedication that our teams demonstrate to customers, particularly during times of need. Steve Bateman, a technician at Rainbow Derby-West, embodies the level of compassion and kindness that we strive to deliver to each customer on a daily basis.

Whilst attending to an Aviva claim via S.A Platt Builders in Stoke-on-Trent, Steve encountered a situation where a customer had unfortunately experienced a severe fall, leaving her profoundly shaken and potentially injured. Without hesitation, Steve assisted the woman, who was near unconscious on the floor, by rushing to get her a pillow and blankets from upstairs, he offered her a drink, ensured she was comfortably settled, and promptly called for an ambulance to attend to the property.

He then proceeded to knock on the surrounding neighbour’s houses, with the aim to find a contact number for a family member or close friend. Fortunately, they successfully contacted the customer’s son, who was able to get to his mother’s home quickly.

After the incident, the neighbour who had provided contact details made a call to Rainbow to ensure that he received due recognition for his exceptional efforts. She praised him for going above and beyond to assist the customer during such a distressing situation.

The handling of this incident perfectly reflects Steve’s reliable manner, characterised by a fantastic attitude and quick thinking. His quick response and strong moral compass ensured that the customer received immediate care and reassurance, making the entire ordeal nothing short of heroic.

Having recently joined Rainbow in September 2022, he had already earned the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award at our 2023 Rainbow Restoration Reunion just a month prior. Steve has once again demonstrated why he deserves such a prestigious title.
